Story starts at a cabin in a pumpkin patch, the party met for the first time when they took a contract from Madrick Raslan, a retired adventurer and warlock, has lost his patron, Zybilna
His patron rules Prismeer and wants the party to investigate
The carnival is crossing over area for the Fae where they each lost something important
Amrynn Kelric, the High-Elf Wizard, lost his hand
Barnabus Nightfeather, the Owlet Artificer, lost his ability to fly
Pork-Bottle (PB) Van Der Fursen, the Tortle Barbarian, lost his sprite named 7-up
Melina, the Human Fighter, lost her twin
Fable Tattle Fitz Bindle, the Tabaxi Warlock, lost a sparkling crystal ball
The Witchlight Carnival was created as a crossing but also to amuse Zybilna, it travels across the planes and only returns once every 8 years
When asked why these things were taken from everyone, Madrick said it is strange especially because Zybilna had been a protector of children
He also said to be sure to get a ticket in order to get into the carnival
The party heads to the carnival area and make it to the ticket booth
The booth attendant pulls out a box engraved with NM (Nicholas Midnight, the ticket booth attendant) and gives the party tickets saying they were paid for
The tickets are good for 8 punches and some of the activities will charge punches
He offered to bargain for additional tickets and offered Amrynn a ticket if he would greet every tree with kindness
Melina asked him what happens to young kids that are missing their families, Nicholas said they should check the lost and found but that she hadn’t lost anything yet
Past the ticket booth, the party sees a calliope, a baboon and a goblin in a teacup outfit with a tin cup asking for buttons
Barnabus put a button in and the goblin brought it back to the baboon who sew it onto his jacket along with many others
Outside of the lost property wagon, a cat-like creature large wings was roughhousing with two young boys
The wings are definitely fake but the party recognizes it as a displacer beast but this one is acting like regular housecat
It speaks perfect elvish and sylvan asking if they’ve lost something, it also said that things that go missing that aren’t found usually never come back
Melina says she’s looking for her twin that looks like her
One of the kids was playing with a lost glass ball and the displacer beast snatched it and the kid ran away
He asked the party to find the boy and Amrynn found him just down the way
The displacer beast said it lost it’s cub, Star, and the glass ball was all they had to remember them
In exchange for finding the boy, it gives everyone a feywild trinket
The party then heads towards the dragonfly rides nearby but they stopped at a food cart on the way
Melina got a funnel cake and bargained for “the first silver she spent today” instead of a ticket punch
Across the way was a ring toss, where you throw a ring onto a unicorn bunny, Amyrnn and PB stepped up to play
Amrynn landed his first ring on the unicorn, when he went to throw the second, the bunny started teleporting around the table, right as the second ring was landing, the bunny ended up right below the ring
Amrynn missed the last ring but still got 2 out 3 for a prize, a container of magical facepaint that can be used once for disguise self
PB got the second toss but missed the third, winning no prize
The party then moved over to another stall labeled “Guess the Feathers” where you guess the number of features
Barnabus and Fable stepped up to play, they got three guesses
Fable went first and got it on her third try, got a bottle of Witchlight wine that plays music while uncorked as long as their is wine in it
Barnabus guesses the number of features on a different bird but guessed the same number and won pixie dust (temporarily grant flight for one minute) and a glove puppet that can cast minor illusion 3 times
From there, the party finally made it to the dragonfly rides
A smiling tree with a red squirrel in it’s branches attended the ride which was just a giant dragonfly that kids were riding on
The tree introduced himself as Northwind and offers dragonfly rides for one punch
He said that Mr. Witch and Mr. Lightrun the carnival and are around
Nearby, a dwarf screamed as he started falling off because he came untied
Melina saw a figure go off around the corner suspiciously and maybe some feathers, she jumped onto one of the dragonflys to go after them
Amrynn shot his mage hand out to catch the reigns of the dwarf’s dragonfly while PB rushed and managed to snag the dwarf off before the dragonfly took off
From above, Melina is able to see the dark colored birdlike figure weaving through the stalls
She was able get the dragonfly to get close and jumped off, tackling the kenku
The voice of the kenku didn’t sound like it should have come from a bird
PB and Amrynn run over to where Melina and the kenku were
It said it’s name is Kettlestream and that it wanted to talk to the owners of the carnival, it is a warlock of Zybilna
Kettlestream said that she heard the owners talking about how someone was going to find out and shut them down, and the other said that they agreed to a pact where they can take what they want from the carnival
Melina, Fable, and Barnabas go back and ride the dragonflies since they already punched the tickets
They flew around over the fairgrounds getting a good view, after a short while, the dragonflies landed back where they took off
The tree gave the party seeds that turned into items for helping the dwarf
PB - a d8 dice to add to any skill check in the carnival after rolling but before pass/fail
Melina and Barnabus - one gold piece
Amrynn and Fable - suddenly feels easily amused
The squirrel runs down his arm and give the party 5 dandelions to blow and make a wish
Each character was supposed to come up with a wish and keep it secret
