After just meeting Bavlorna Blightstraw, she had tasked the party with fixing her bath, getting some skins from the bullywugs, and returning her book
Amrynn cast detect magic as a ritual in the first level and was able to detect conjuration magic on the mirror in the pool and some strange magic on lily pad
Barnabus stepped into the water and the water felt slightly tingly on his skin
Him and PB examined the well and noticed that there is probably a gelatinous cube in the well based on the
Examination of the mirror and the lily pad didn’t yield anything out of the ordinary
PB then dunked his hand in the well and the gelatinous cube came out of the well and attacked
The party quickly dispatched the cube and the water started flowing out of the well quickly for about a minute until the pool was filled to about three foot deep
They then headed back to the boat docked at the hut
Mugwort asked how things went with the hag and seemed disappointed that they didn’t fight the hag but didn’t push too hard when they said they were working on a plan to take her down after they got more information
Baron Illig of Muckstamp’s followers were hunters and would likely know more about the skins
The baron himself gave the skins over willingly
They then took the balloon back to the cottage and did a fly-by of the third level that they hadn’t been to
There was a single latched window that was too grimy to really see through and a balcony with a closed, solid door
They decided to try to talk to Bavlorna Blightstraw first before trying any stealth entrance
They gave the pelts and book back to Bavlorna Blightstraw and she left to take a batch, leaving the party in the lounge with Charm
She was trying to leave as her business was concluded, she dodged Amrynn’s questions about her shadow but did tell them some information

She then squeezed past PB and left down the stairs
The lounge was as when they were in it before
PB noticed the mouse hole-sized door underneath the cabinet that likely led to the hallway that made people small
Barnabus was able to unlock the lock on the cabinet
The room to the east had a straw covered floor and several wooden pedestals, each with a bird cage covered in cloth
Amrynn used his mage hand to pull the cloth back and saw eagle-like birds in the cages that woke up when the cloth was removed and started pecking at them so he replaced the cloth and it went back to sleep
The three windows in the room have engravings, the one to the east said Thither and had a small balcony outside it, the one to the north said Yon and also had a small balcony, and the last one seemed like a normal window with no balcony
They then decided to head up the stairs which ended in a dilapidated bedroom with two doors, one leading to the east into another room and one to the south to the balcony they saw from outside
A ball of light is attached to the ceiling and PB was drawn to it with a sense of familiarity but they couldn’t discern anything other than the light
Amrynn tried to grab at it with his mage hand but it moved out of the way
Barnabus saw a watering can on the chest of drawers in the room and some dying plants, he watered them and a key slid out of one of the plants as it seemed to perk up
He used it to open a chest in the room containing
- 12 inch tall marionette with two faces, one of a moon and one of sun (worth about 25gp)
- One ticket from the Witchlight Carnival signed by Isolde “Carnival Owner”
- Three spell scrolls for identify
Barnabus then picked the lock into the eastern room which seemed to be some sort of closet
A shriveled up lornling is laying on the floor and dies with a croak
A humanoid shadow (likely Charm’s) moved about the room holding a spool of thread and then it attacked the party
After defeating it, it dissipated dropping the spool of thread to the floor
